ABOUT

FRANCO ALESSANDRO

PhD in Cultural Studies (UNC-Chapel Hill), MFA in Performance (The University of Pittsburgh), BA in Liberal Studies (Portland State University)

Throughout the course of his (him) street musical career, Franco Alessandro

(a.k.a. "Dr. Crank") has won over the hearts of sound lovers from all walks of life

with covers that range from Billie Holiday's favorite songs, Enrico Caruso's and Chet Baker's vocal synthesizing improvisations, to many pop music covers in manifold genres, all unrecorded and only performed in street venues. Performing at a variety of cities in Europe, the United States, and Latin America, now Franco Alessandro has taken over the sonic endeavor to re-conceptualize the meaning of music/sound, vocal versatility,

and performance using the most elemental recording devices.

Franco Alessandro labels his current performance endeavors as

"The Post-Modern Troubadour."
